The BAKG participates in many ongoing charity projects. Throughout the year, members knit garments such as children's sweaters, preemie hats, and robe afghans for seniors. The guild supplies the yarn or members use yarn from their personal stash. Twice a year, in July and in December, members meet at the Brooklyn home of BAKG member Mickey Schaeffer for three hours of charity knitting. At these meetings, members are asked not to work on personal projects, but rather to start or finish a garment or square dedicated to a charity project. This is a wonderful opportunity to try new techniques and to “return to society the product of our craft”.

If you'd like to contribute a garment, please bring it to one of our meetings or contact Sue Goldman.
