Skeins of Yarn with an Auction Gavel

Annual Yarn Auction and Sale

Saturday, November 8, 1–4 PM
Check-in begins at 12:30 PM New York Society for Ethical Culture (Social Hall)
2 West 64th Street at Central Park West

The Annual Yarn Auction and Sale is one of the most anticipated events on the BAKG calendar! Bid on project-quantity lots of highly sought-after yarns during the fun and fast-paced auction. Or shop for luxury and novelty yarns—priced at just $5 per skein!—in the sale. Whether you seek a single, very special skein or enough yarn to last you well into 2026, you will find it here! This is the Guild’s only fundraiser of the year, and proceeds support our exceptional programs and workshops. So, bring your friends (admission is FREE!), Wish List, and be prepared to bid or buy! Please review our PDF for a full list of auction lots. Be sure to download the pdf to your phone or bring a printout for your reference. Printed catalogs will not be available.

EXCITING NEWS: This year we WILL be accepting credit cards and digital payments, as well as cash and check!

No auction donations will be accepted at the meeting.

Program

Beginning at 12:30 pm, check in and get an auction paddle and pencil. A brief business meeting will begin at 1 pm. We are delighted to welcome Kay Gardiner, co-founder of Modern Daily Knitting (MDK)—one of the most vibrant communities in the knitting world—who will speak briefly about the life-changing power of connection, whether online or in person, and will spotlight the MDK Society, a new membership group that fuels daily inspiration, organizes exclusive events, and provides a welcoming space for knitters and makers everywhere. One small idea has grown into a joyful, sustaining community that keeps knitters and makers connected year- round.

Following Kay’s talk, auction rules and guidelines will be reviewed. Then, just sit back and watch (or participate in) the auction action! Afterward, there will be ample time to shop the tables full of yarn at deeply discounted prices.

NOTE: There will be no Show and Tell at this meeting. Membership renewals and payments of dues will not be accepted on this day. (Dues may be paid online at any time!!) BUT Charity Knitting drop-offs will be accepted.
