She believes that anyone—even a beginner knitter—can learn to knit socks and enjoy the process from start to finish. Her very popular No Fear Sock Knitting course plus another 190 videos—nearly all of which are about socks—have attracted more than 48,000 subscribers to her YouTube channel! Before sock knitting, Denise was a massage therapist and labor support doula. Her husband and two children step over weekly yarn deliveries left at the front door.

PRESENTATION: SOCK HEELS—Which One? When? And Why?
There are many parts to knitting a sock, and many possibilities for each one. Denise will discuss the pros and cons of commonly used options such as the heel flap and gusset, afterthought, and short-row heels, and will also consider the square/dutch, fleegle, double heel flap, Sweet Tomato heels, and a few more.
Each kind of heel fits differently, so choosing the right one ensures the best fit for the wearer’s feet. Denise will do a side-by-side comparison of the three most frequently used heels and will discuss how to change/swap out a heel in a sock pattern. After this talk, you too will know how to knit heels fearlessly!
