Welcome to the Big Apple Knitter's Guild!

Your Cozy Corner for Knitting in the Heart of NYC
The Big Apple Knitters Guild (BAKG) is a diverse community of knitters.
From Manhattan to Everywhere
We’re based in the Big Apple, but our members stitch in from all over the metro area and beyond!
Different Paths, Same Passion
Teachers, techies, artists, retirees—our backgrounds may vary, but we’re all tangled up in knitting joy.
Beginners, Experts, All in One Loop
Whether you’ve just cast on your first project or published patterns galore, you belong.
What binds us is our common love of knitting and desire to learn and become more proficient at our craft. We enjoy meeting other knitters and sharing our expertise. If you’ve ever entertained the idea of learning to knit, want to explore the world of knitting, or would simply like to experience the camaraderie of other knitters, consider joining us—we would be delighted to welcome you!

The mission of BAKG was established by the guild’s founders. BAKG is dedicated to:

  • Preserving and supporting the art of knitting
  • Fostering awareness and appreciation of knitting and its place among other fiber arts
  • Educating all those who want to learn and/or perfect their knitting skills
  • Providing a friendly environment where members can come together for these purposes
  • Sharing the products of our craft with charitable organizations

There’s so much happening at the Big Apple Knitters Guild! From upcoming events and workshops to member galleries and resources, our pages are full of inspiration and opportunities to connect. Take a look around, learn more about what we do, and see how you can be part of our vibrant knitting community.
I’ve been a guild member for almost a year and am so appreciative of the programs, services and meeting so many awesome crafters and professionals in the industry, which was my goal. Many thanks to everyone who make all of this a great experience!

I have enjoyed the many ways BAKG fosters my continuing education as a knitter. Whatever the format, from mini-workshops and KALs to fabulous classes by excellent teachers, the guild has been my go-to resource for learning new tips and techniques.

I’m so thankful for the way BAKG has expanded my knitting world – from learning about new techniques and fibers to meeting wonderful people who share my “knitting addiction.” BAKG has really made me feel like I’m very much a part of the greater knitting community.
