GENERAL MEETING

March 11, 1-4 PM

New York Society for Ethical Culture
2 West 64th Street (at Central Park West), New York, NY

GUEST SPEAKER:

Patty Lyons, designer, teacher, best-selling author

PATTY LYONS (http://pattylyons.com/) is a nationally recognized knitting teacher and technique expert who is known for teaching the “why” — not just the “how” — in her pursuit of training the “mindful knitter”. She specializes in sweater design and sharing her love of the much-maligned subjects of gauge and blocking. Patty teaches nationally at guilds, shops and knitting shows around the country as well as hosting her own retreats. Her popular classes can also be found on DVD and online through her website on her education site education.pattylyons.com. Her designs and knitting skill articles have been published in Vogue Knitting, Interweave Knits, Knit Purl, Knitter’s Magazine, Cast On, Knit Style, Creative Knitting, Twist Collective and Modern Daily Knitting where she writes a monthly knitter’s advice column: “Ask Patty”.

Presentation

Learn how Patty took the hilarious journey from self-taught knitter (who did everything wrong, so she just made up her own way) to knitting teacher well-known for teaching the “why”. We’ll take a trip through the process of building Patty’s best-selling book, Knitting Bag of Tricks, which features over 70 must-have knitting hacks. Patty will show “before” and “after” swatches. We’ll end with a Q & A

NEW – Test for Livestreaming
Our in-person meeting on March 11 will take place, as usual, at the New York Society for Ethical Culture (NYSEC). So… what’s new? We will be testing our ability to livestream the meeting to accommodate those members who cannot attend in person. This meeting will NOT be recorded for viewing later; this is solely a real-time livestreaming test during the live meeting. Please let Carren Shulman know by Wednesday, March 8, whether you will be livestreaming, so that she can send you the rules and requirements. This test is for members only.

Charity Knitting Table
And … we’re back!!! We’re thrilled to announce that after the presentation and raffle, you are free to sit and knit at the Charity Knitting Table in person. Items knitted for charity may also be dropped off here.

BAKG Yarn and Book Sale
Check out the sale tables for some great bargains on yarn and books. Please remember to bring cash or checks as we cannot process electronic payment.
