BAKG GENERAL MEETING
Saturday, September 14, 1–4 PM
(check-in begins 12:30pm)
New York Society for Ethical Culture
2 West 64th Street, Manhattan
GUEST SPEAKER: Bristol Ivy, designer, teacher
Guests Welcome!
Bristol Ivy is a prolific designer with more than 270 designs to her name. Her designs have been published in PomPom Magazine and amirisu, and by Quince & Co yarn company. She has taught at Vogue Knitting LIVE!, the Edinburgh Yarn Festival, and other important knitting events worldwide. And she is the author of Knitting Outside the Box and Knitting Outside the Box: Drape & Flow. No lesser an authority than Modern Daily Knitting gave rave reviews to Knitting Outside the Box, calling it a “stunner.” Read the full review here.
Presentation
Bristol asks: “Did you ever wonder how a Pi shawl is constructed?” Bristol will demystify everything we need to know about this beautiful and amazing knitted item—a circular shawl—from construction to notions and best yarn to use—you name it! You will want to take notes. Bristol will bring her books—Knitting Outside the Box and Knitting Outside the Box: Drape & Flow—for sale. She accepts Venmo, PayPal, cash, or check.
Show and Tell
What have you been up to since our last meeting? We can’t wait to see what you created over the summer. As always, only one Show and Tell item per meeting, please. And remember to look for photos from past meetings on our website.
Bring a Guest
Guests are welcome! A guest’s first visit is free. Subsequent visits are $10, which may be applied to annual dues if paid on the meeting day.
Charity Table
Drop off the knitting you have done for charity since last we met. Or sit and knit at our Charity Knitting table with Charity Chair Barbara Beckley.
Look for photos of these beautiful creations from previous months on the BAKG webpage and Instagram and Facebook pages.
Beginners Table
Are you a beginner knitter? Or do you have a question about a project you are making? Drop by the Beginners Table for help.
Yarn Auction
There are many benefits to your BAKG membership. We will even help you de-stash! We’re collecting donations now for our Annual Yarn Auction and Sale, taking place November 9. Please bring your offerings to our upcoming general meetings in September and October or drop them off with Auction Chair Carol Rudman’s doorman at 444 East 86th Street, Manhattan. The doorman knows that anything relating even remotely to knitting yarn and books comes to her. Complete and print the yarn donation form and attach it to your yarn donation.
NOTE: BAKG general meetings, workshops, or other BAKG-sponsored events, whether in person or virtual, may be photographed and/or recorded by audio and/or video. By your in-person or virtual participation at these meetings, you consent to the photography and/or recording and to the use of your image and/or recording in print and social media.
