October 2022 Meeting

GENERAL MEETING

Saturday, Oct 8, 1–4 PM

GUEST SPEAKER: Shaina Bilow
Shaina Bilow Designs, LLC

Shaina Bilow is a Craft Yarn Council Certified Knitting Instructor and a Knitting Guild Association Professional Finisher who has worked and taught in numerous yarn shops in New Jersey. She empowers her students, whether they are picking up needles for the first time or are advanced-level knitters and crocheters.
Shaina loves to turn string into wearable works of art, and all of her inspiring patterns—whether self-published or printed in well-known publications like Noro Magazine, Interweave Magazine, and Knitscene Magazine—are intended to manifest joy. And she also dyes her own branded yarn. What’s Shaina’s favorite color?… You guessed it, “rainbows.”

Presentation
Shaina will tell us how she turned a hobby into a business, what inspires her, and why she loves to teach. She will put on a trunk show of her designs and hand-dyed yarns. For her mini workshop, we will all begin a simple triangular shawl in Shaina’s unique fashion, while she provides her tips and tricks for shawl knitting. Bring US 6 (4 mm) knitting needles, 50 yards of fingering-weight yarn, and a stitch marker. There is no homework. The pattern will be provided at the meeting. There will be a 10% discount on Shaina’s hand-dyed yarn purchased at the meeting.
