Big Apple Knitters Guild
GENERAL MEETING via Zoom
Saturday, June 12, 1–4 PM
GUEST SPEAKER: Norah Gaughan—Editor in Chief, Vogue Knitting
Norah Gaughan, recently appointed Editor in Chief of Vogue Knitting, returns to BAKG!
Norah started her brilliant career freelancing for yarn companies and knitting magazines. Later, as a design director for JCA Crafts, she oversaw the yarn lines of Reynolds, Artful Yarns, and Adrienne Vittadini, while also working as design director at Berroco.
She is the author of Norah Gaughan’s Knitted Cable Sourcebook: A Breakthrough Guide to Knitting with Cables and Designing Your Own (2016) and Knitting Nature: 39 Designs Inspired by Nature (2006). Her newest book, Norah Gaughan’s Twisted Stitch Sourcebook: A Breakthrough Guide to Knitting and Designing (2021), is sure to be a classic.
PRESENTATION: Double-Knitting History
Norah will preview the Fall 2021 issue of Vogue Knitting, which features interesting new ideas balanced with practicality in a full range of sizes. Once again, Vogue Knitting has generously donated more than a dozen prizes to our raffle! These include tickets for fall events and copies of Vogue Knitting books. Norah will also raffle two copies of her Twisted Stitch Sourcebook, published by Abrams Publishing this past January, and, as a bonus, will lead a mini-demonstration showing the difference between twisted stitches and traditional two-stitch cable techniques.
Remaining portions of the meeting include Show and Tell, Charity Knitting, and a Help Session. Details were provided to members only. To join this meeting, you must first become a member, if you are not already a member.
